Jesus Christ Superstar is a rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice that tells the story of the final week of Jesus’ life through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.

Rather than presenting a traditional biblical retelling, the musical explores the human emotions behind the story — doubt, loyalty, fear, ambition, love, and betrayal. Jesus is portrayed as a charismatic but overwhelmed leader, while Judas struggles with whether Jesus’ growing fame is helping or destroying their movement.
