This policy outlines Laguna Travel Limited's responsibilities and expectations regarding smoking across all company premises, customer premises, company vehicles, and while employees are in service outside customer premises.

Policy Overview

All workplaces, vehicles, and premises associated with Laguna Travel Limited and Laguna Hotel are designated smoke-free in accordance with the Health Act 2006 and related regulations. This ensures that all staff, contractors, visitors, and customers have the right to a smoke-free environment.

This policy applies to all employees, contractors, volunteers, casual workers, agency workers, and visitors. Compliance with the smoking restrictions outlined in this policy is mandatory for anyone visiting the premises or using Laguna Travel vehicles.


 

Policy Objectives

The implementation of this policy aims to:

  • Protect employees, customers, visitors, and contractors from the harms associated with smoking and tobacco use.

  • Promote a smoke-free environment as a standard of professionalism.

  • Set a positive example within the community and workforce.

  • Safeguard the reputation of Laguna Travel Limited.

  • Ensure staff are fully aware of their responsibilities regarding this policy.

  • Support customers and visitors in adhering to the policy.


 

Smoking Restrictions

Smoking is prohibited in all enclosed or substantially enclosed premises within Laguna Travel Limited, Laguna Hotel, and company vehicles.

This restriction includes all items that can be smoked, such as:

  • Cigarettes, electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes), vapes

  • Pipes (including water pipes such as shisha and hookah)

  • Cigars and herbal cigarettes

Additionally, smoking is not permitted within 100 yards of company vehicles while:

  • Attending a customer’s premises

  • Parked at service stations

  • Waiting for customers to board

Employees who smoke or vape while on duty or waiting for passengers must do so respectfully, ensuring they are out of sight of clients and the public, and must adhere to socially acceptable behavior.

To maintain professionalism and reduce any lingering odors from smoking, employees are encouraged to use:

  • Antibacterial hand gel or spray

  • Breath fresheners (e.g., mints or spray)

This not only benefits the individual but also reinforces Laguna Travel Limited’s commitment to client satisfaction.


 

Policy Enforcement and Review

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it meets the needs of the organization and achieves its objectives. Reviews will include:

  • Assessing the effectiveness of implementation

  • Ensuring the information is current and relevant

  • Evaluating designated smoking areas (if applicable)

Non-Compliance:

  • Dropping cigarette ends or related litter will be treated as misconduct and addressed under Laguna Travel Limited’s Disciplinary Procedure.

  • Serious breaches of this policy may result in disciplinary action, including potential termination for gross misconduct.

  • Smoking in smoke-free premises or vehicles is a criminal offence, subject to fixed penalty fines and/or prosecution.
