Personal Injury: - Slips, trips, and falls - Passenger safety

Driver and Passenger

Driver to pick up/set down in a safe area - Use vehicle kneel facility when necessary - Ensure vehicle steps and floor area are clear - Ensure vehicle interior is well-illuminated - Keep wheelchair area unobstructed - Driver training in disability awareness

Ramp Usage

Working area: - Level ground - Suitable space - Condition of ramp - Tip hazard - Strains and pulls - Height issues when ramp is elevated with passenger

Driver and Passenger

Observe safe placement of ramp - Ensure working area is free of obstructions liable to cause injury or incident - Adhere to maximum ramp weight limits - Ensure ramp is in usable condition with free and easy operation - Take extra precautions when ramp is elevated to prevent tipping or instability - Driver has the right to refuse any non-compliant passenger or wheelchair

Under Vehicle Stowage

Personal Injury: - Back injuries - Sprains and strains - Crush injuries

Driver

Only driver to load wheelchair into vehicle luggage compartment - Follow driver training on luggage handling and assess weight before proceeding - No overweight chairs with immovable batteries - Ensure luggage area is clear before closing lockers

Maintain a high-specification, modern fleet - Assign experienced drivers - Plan routes with passenger safety and comfort in mind - Schedule regular stops with consideration for disabled access from the coach to amenities
