Dear Guest,

Welcome to our villa and your holiday home in Florida; we hope that you have a wonderful holiday. In an effort to make it as comfortable & enjoyable as possible we hope that you find the following information beneficial.

Garden and Pool Maintenance

The garden is maintained regularly including cutting the grass, trims & edges as necessary. The pool is cleaned & chemical levels checked on a weekly basis, and a card is left to indicate that they have been done.

Please note that it is advised that you do not swim for two hours after the chemicals have been added.

Air Conditioning and Heating Systems

The air conditioning system in this villa is completely automatic. To operate the air conditioner, set the thermostat located in the lounge to “auto” & the “temp” switch to “cool”. Move the arm down to the required temperature. Between 75° & 78° is the most comfortable setting. Should you ever need the heating system on, it is operated in exactly the same way as the cooling system, but the “Temp” switch is turned on to “heat”.

Whilst the air conditioning system is turned on, ALL doors & windows to the outside must be kept closed, otherwise the conditioner will ice up & can take up to three days to de-ice. Please turn the air conditioning system off whilst you are not in the villa, it only takes a very short time for the system to lower the temperature when you arrive back into the villa & saves a considerable amount of energy.

Hot Water Heater (Electric)

The hot water system should be on. If not, you are able to turn it on in the garage. The fuse box is situated on the wall & you need to flick the switch marked W/H. Please do not turn it off as it is will be required to be on for the next guests.

Kitchen Equipment

You will find every convenience in the kitchen to make your stay more enjoyable. Here are some simple guidelines:

MICROWAVE - For safe operation do not place any metal objects in the microwave.

REFRIGERATOR - This is already set for maximum efficiency.

DISHWASHER - To operate, place dishwasher tablet in door reservoir, close the flap & close the machine door. Push “normal/low energy” wash. This should clean most things. The dishwasher will not operate if the door is not fully closed. Do not put wooden or plastic items in the dishwasher unless they are marked “dishwasher safe”. Please do not let cutlery, etc, fall into the bottom of the dishwasher as it can cause costly damage. Please do not use regular washing up liquid in the dishwasher – you will be overrun with suds if you do!

COOKER/HOB - The knobs are clearly marked & will do exactly what they indicate.

TO BAKE - Turn the selector knob to “bake”. This will activate the bottom element.*

TO GRILL - Turn the selector knob to “broil”. This will activate the upper element.*

*All the elements get very hot, so please take appropriate care.

WASTE DISPOSAL UNIT -  The switch to operate the waste disposal unit is on the wall behind the sink. Always run cold water whilst the unit is in operation.

Do not put your hands into the unit whilst it is in operation. Do not put bones, celery, glass into the unit.

Do not run the unit for longer than 15 seconds.

Always make sure that the unit is turned off before retrieving items that accidentally fall into the unit.

Washing Machine and Tumble Dryer

These are located in the garage for your convenience. Instructions are on both machines, but please note that the filter on the dryer needs emptying after each use.

Garbage Pick Up

The garbage collection is twice a week – Mondays & Thursdays. Please place bags outside, near the kerb the night before, as they usually collect very early in the morning. Please do not put the actual dustbins out as they often disappear!

Linen

There is a stock of clean linen & towels in the cupboard for your convenience. Please ensure that when you leave the villa, that only one load of washing is left. This is to ensure that the villa can be cleaned swiftly in readiness for the next guests.

Toilets

The septic systems will only take the flushing of toilet paper. If anything else is flushed down the toilets they will clog up & overflow. Please do not flush items such as baby wipes, personal hygiene products, diapers/nappies, hair, plastic wrappers etc.

Swimming Pool Area (Villas with a private pool)

For safety reasons, please do not take glassware or breakable items onto the pool deck area. Please remind children that they should not run in the pool area & that the pool is not suitable for diving due to its shallow depth. Children should not be left in the pool area unsupervised.

Uninvited Guests!

Due to the climate & local habitat, we can experience problems with ants & other insects. In order to minimize the effect of these creatures, we suggest the following.

Keep all food in the fridge or in airtight sealed containers.

Do not leave any food items out or unopened.

Ensure that kitchen work tops are wiped down after food preparation.

Empty the kitchen bin regularly & ensure that it is kept clean.

After a meal or snack, check that there are no left over crumbs for the ants to snack on.

Do not leave doors/windows open for anything to crawl in.

These are just precautions against an invasion of creepy crawlies – they may or may not be about when you visit!
