*Moulin Rouge! The Musical* is inspired by Baz Luhrmann's iconic 2001 film *Moulin Rouge!* which captivated audiences with its vibrant blend of historical Parisian cabaret and contemporary pop music. The film, set in the bohemian world of Montmartre at the turn of the 20th century, tells the passionate love story between Christian, a young writer, and Satine, a beautiful courtesan, set against the backdrop of the legendary Moulin Rouge cabaret. The movie’s innovative use of popular songs and lavish, surreal visuals created a unique genre known as "jukebox musical." The film was a massive success, earning multiple awards and reviving interest in the Moulin Rouge as an artistic subject, setting the stage for its adaptation into a live musical.

In 2018, *Moulin Rouge! The Musical* made its stage debut at the Emerson Colonial Theatre in Boston before moving to Broadway in 2019. Adapted by Tony Award-winning writer John Logan and directed by Alex Timbers, the stage musical expanded on the film's concept with an updated score, incorporating an even broader selection of pop hits to appeal to new audiences while keeping the essence of Luhrmann’s original vision. The musical quickly garnered critical acclaim for its high-energy performances, stunning choreography, and visually breathtaking sets that vividly capture the spirit of the Belle Époque cabaret. It has since become a global sensation, with productions in major cities worldwide, including London, where it continues to enchant audiences with its blend of romance, drama, and spectacle.
