Enjoy a visit to Enderby House, an iconic riverside residence with a history dating back to 1830 where you’ll take a break for a relaxing midday meal. Here, you’ll enjoy a light lunch of a freshly prepared sandwich, served with a portion of chips—simple, satisfying, and just right for a break in charming surroundings.

Afterwards, we continue to the impressive Thames Barrier, one of the capital’s most remarkable engineering landmarks. Stretching across the River Thames, the Barrier is a striking series of gleaming steel gates designed to protect London from tidal surges and flooding. Since its completion in the 1980s, it has played a vital role in safeguarding the city, combining cutting-edge engineering with an iconic, futuristic design.

During your visit, enjoy an engaging and informative talk that explains how the Barrier operates, how often it is raised, and the crucial role it plays in defending thousands of homes and landmarks across London. You’ll also learn about the history behind its construction and the challenges of managing flood risk in a modern capital. There will be time to take in the views along the river and appreciate this unique structure up close—an impressive blend of innovation, design, and purpose.

A well-balanced day combining good food, history, and one of London’s most iconic modern achievements.
