Westonbirt Arboretum, located near Tetbury in Gloucestershire, England, is one of the world's most renowned tree gardens. Established in 1829 by Robert Holford, a wealthy landowner and passionate botanist, the arboretum covers around 600 acres and boasts over 15,000 labeled trees, representing approximately 2,500 species from all over the globe. It is managed by Forestry England and serves as a leading center for botanical research and conservation.

The arboretum is divided into two primary areas: the Old Arboretum and Silk Wood. The Old Arboretum is a carefully designed landscape, featuring rare and exotic tree species from across the world, arranged in a more formal, Victorian-style layout. It provides a tranquil, aesthetic experience, especially with its collection of specimen trees. In contrast, Silk Wood is a semi-natural woodland with a more informal design, home to a wide variety of native and exotic tree species. This area is particularly noted for its ancient woodland and diverse habitats that support a range of wildlife.

Westonbirt Arboretum is perhaps most famous for its stunning autumn foliage, as many of the maples and other deciduous trees put on a spectacular display of color. It is also a popular destination for spring blooms, with its collection of rhododendrons, magnolias, and cherry trees. Throughout the year, various events and educational programs are held to engage visitors in learning about forestry, conservation, and the importance of trees.

The arboretum also features several trails, a tree-top walkway known as the STIHL Treetop Walkway, and other facilities like a visitor center, café, and gift shop. It plays a crucial role in conservation efforts, participating in international tree conservation programs and supporting initiatives to protect endangered tree species.
